Then you win. PS The day Mr McGovern left an annoying message on my blog was the day I rejoiced at coming back to reality architecture earth Right now, his favorite language, going by his other posts, is I can personnally understand what James is talking about.

James is in fact a defender of open-source software if you look at what he has done in the past. What James is telling is that we should not do Technology for the sake of doing technology.

He says that unless a new technology has proven all what it claims to deliver, it is maybe not a good idea to use it for Enterprise applications.

Now if I move into the skin of a developer, this is bullshit of course but for an Enterprise Architect, it is definitely a best practice. The very good Enterprise Architect are the ones who will use new technology when it will really solve a business problem, balancing succesfully the risks related to the new technology with the benefits it brings for the company.

I think that for really achieving this, Enterprise Architects should sometime listen more to their developers than to the vendors. That's the key. It seems as if lots of people responded with their perspective but didn't support anything with fact. He is putting his money where his mouth is and will pay for anyone that can prove him wrong.

This should be a cakewalk for the community to prove that Ruby is truly enterprise ready. However, how about the extremely important point of Quality of Service and non-functional requirements. Also, I think that your criticism only applies to presentation layers, as I will still have to encounter the first business layer or data layer for a large, mission-critical system fully written in PHP. Maybe you and your enterprise architect should talk more often ;-.

I can't name the customer at all since the customer wishes to remain anonymous.

Function Points Instead of measuring size, function points measure the functionality offered by a system. A number of variations to the actual function points have been made by some practitioners and Mark-II function points majorly used in Britain, 3D functions points developed by Boeing, COSMIC full function points, De-Marco function points and feature function points have been developed Christopher In SOA development process, mostly developers try to overcome the overall effort estimates of SOA applications but in certain cases they ignore to estimate the Integration efforts.

So developers may ignore the service integration efforts, which lead to incorrect software development estimation. Services are identified for the selected projects and a list of necessary services is produced.

Development Efforts are estimated for the particular service through Function Point Analysis. As in SOA architecture a network of services are established, so the developer identify the set of integrated services for current service, and estimate service development efforts as well as Service integration efforts for the current service.

This estimation process continues until all Services needed for current services are integrated. Finally total efforts are calculated by adding the development efforts with the integration efforts.

Categorize the type of selected SOA project b. This book is useful for systems architects and provides many of the practical considerations for implementing web services including authorization, encryption, transactions and the future of Web Services.

I can't imagine anyone is going to write anything better than this for a software developer or architect that wants to design Java Web services applications. This is the Web services book to have!

When an enterprise combines Java with other industry principles such as XML, UML, object orientation, design patterns, and a good software development process, it can create meaningful services with strong value propositions: the key to Web services and this book. This digital environment is reliant on data — and unlike previous generations, this technology uses -near live data streams rather than historical data collections.
